Greetings Dear Peep Fans,
Our flock numbers twenty four,
twelve chicks and twelve turkey poults
and we are so cute it ought to be illegal!
We were brought home from the feed store in a large cardboard box
12 days ago and have been housed in a big ole horse trough in the Master's Quarters.
In that short span of time we have gone from looking like this:
To this:
And this:
We've grown so fast that our lady had to come up with a
double decker peep housing system for indoors,
as the weather just hasn't cooperated at all.
Mother Nature must have quite the sense of humor.
The overnight lows are between 32-40 degrees,
deadly cold for young peeps!
And so, we hang out inside making as much racket and poo as possible,
dreaming of warm sunny days when we can be outside.
Our Lady has been braving the winds and building us a temporary enclosure
in the sunniest spot in the yard.
We hear from Shiloh,
That Our Lady has been very busy trying to keep us clean.
We know nothing of that and spend most of our time working on our wing beats,
peeping, eating, and pooing all over our enclosure.
Our favorite games are tipping the water over,
pooing in the food dish and flying straight at the heat lamp,
It makes a wonderful GONG!
. Our Lady dreams of a time when the sun will shine brightly for long enough that we can reside here:
Our Lady poked several holes in her fingers making this peep enclosure,
knowing full well that we will out grow it as soon as possible.
At which time the weather had better be better,
so we can chase grasshopers in the summer sunshine while
Our Masters build bigger and better enclosures!
Happy Spring!
